In the spring of 2007, after four years, two tours, and sixty-odd shows, Shark and Bear went on indefinite hiatus. Before splitting up, the band played three final gigs, including a release show for its long-gestating full-length "Morning Prayer, Four Letters Long". This release compiles recordings of the three performances, with two at the now-closed Great Scott in Boston as well as one at Somerville haunt PA's Lounge.

Together, the Great Scott shows include every song from the "Morning Prayer" album as well as four newer tunes the band had been playing, including some instrumentals that presaged Dan's and my work some years later in Ghosts of Sailors at Sea; these recordings make up this collection's first twelve tracks. The last six tracks come from the PA's show, and feature some especially cathartic takes on songs we'd been playing for much of our career as a band.

I'm thankful to have documentation of these final shows, and of songs like 'Matchstick Girl' and 'Halogens' that we never got a chance to lay down in the studio; some demos persist, but I think these live versions are the superior recordings. As always, I hope you enjoy it.
